You know the feeling. Your chest is tight, your mind is distracted and there’s a pervasive underlying feeling of unease inside of you, but you can’t put your finger on why you’re stressed. Yep feeling like this sucks the big fat rubbery one and it isn’t any fun.

Truth is, we all get stressed out from time to time. It’s natural, life is a series of ups and downs, trials and tribulations that if tackled the right way will make you a better person.

However that stress is left unchecked, it can really chip away your self confidence and resolve go get things done, impacting your growth and life journey.

I’ve been there quite a few times and you can either hope it goes away on its own or take some corrective action and sort that shit out quick smart and get on with the business of life.

Don’t hide from the problem, tackle that sucka head on!

I’ve tried a lot of things to de-stress — herbals teas, relaxation techniques, hitting to the gym like a maniac and smacking the crap out of a punching bag. At best, these techniques of stress control are good supplemental activities, but if employed alone they are nothing but a poor substitute for what you really need to do. What you probably already KNOW you really need to do.

You need to fix the problems, not dodge them.

An effective way I have found to tackle stress, is a 7 step process I’ve fine tuned over time on my own problems. It isn’t full of airy fairy malarky, it is basic holistic troubleshooting that works and all it requires is for you to sequentially do the following:

  1. Uncover the problems.
  2. Describe your current efforts to solve them.
  3. Document all conceivable courses of action.
  4. Determine an action list.
  5. Prioritise the action list.
  6. Assign dates to the action items.
  7. Do it.

Part deux continues here.

Keep on keepin’ on.
